So what to tell you, well I've always been an outdoors type of person, growing up in a small town in Buckinghamshire and a sports crazy kid I found myself in the world of golf from the age of 8, chasing that small white ball around most days through out my childhood meant I was out in nature and the great outdoors, this had a great influence on my future as after realising being a professional golfer wasn't to be I soon found myself exploring the mountains of the UK, hiking, running and rock climbing, being outside exploring is where my heart lies!
Of course, as with most people I had a little point and shoot camera which i'd take out with me on the adventures, it wasn't long before I invested in my first Dslr camera which gave me even more incentive to get out and about and really start to learn and the art of photography.
It started with mainly wildlife, stalking birds that always seemed to know what camera gear you have and therefore just how far away they needed to stay!!! A bit of a macro spell, chasing round bees and over small critters before purchasing my first Nd filter allowing me to shoot long exposure and trying to capture those streaky clouds and smooth waters that id been so impressed by in others work.
A few upgrades to my equipment and an added photography assistant (Fudge photographed with me in action) now living in Kent I spend most weekends looking for places and subjects to capture, this could be from a beautiful sunrise to a moody woodland or the stars overhead, always trying to give images my personal touch!
Most photos start of with research research and more research, getting this right for me is probably the most important part of a shot no matter what it is, knowing my subject is key, whether that is tide times, sun rise and set times, position of the Milky Way and so on, as a photo can consist of lots of things coming together at one point so it is important to go prepared and with a good understanding of what I'm trying to achieve. Saying all that, we are talking about Britain!!! and the one thing you can't guarantee is the weather so there is always anticipation as to what palette I will be given to work with!!
As well my landscape and fine art collection I also like to turn my camera on all of Fudges companions, I have been enjoying capturing our Furry Friends for a few years now and offer a home visit with my mobile studio or an outdoor shot at a local beach or park, it is always something I love to do!
